In the UAE’s fast-paced environment, people with limited mobility can face challenges when navigating steps, raised entrances, and changes in floor levels. These mobility barriers can make everyday activities more difficult for both users and their caregivers.
Platform lifts provide an accessibility solution where ramps or conventional access routes may be impractical. They are designed to provide safe and convenient vertical access between different levels, particularly for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility.
In this guide, you’ll learn what platform lifts are, where they can be used in Dubai, their key accessibility benefits, and the factors to consider when choosing one.
How Platform Lifts Make Buildings More Accessible
Limited mobility can make everyday activities, such as using stairs, difficult for seniors, wheelchair users, and people with disabilities. Platform lifts help improve accessibility by allowing users to move between different levels with less physical effort.
Professionally designed platform lifts can provide wheelchair users with easier access between floors and reduce their reliance on caregivers for certain types of vertical movement.

The suitability of a platform lift depends on the home’s structure, available installation space, and the user’s mobility requirements.
Healthcare and Care Facilities
Hospitals, clinics, and care facilities need accessible routes for patients and visitors with limited mobility. Platform lifts can provide wheelchair users and patients with easier access between different levels where conventional routes may not be practical.
They can also help caregivers and staff assist users with moving between accessible areas of a facility.
